Obtaining fish offsprings for repopulation and growing is directly related to the species capacity in producing ovules in each reproductive period or spawning and depending if the given species presents total or parcelated spawning. In the specific case of "peixe-rei" in which the ovules are obtained through stripping of naturally captured matrixes, it is very important to know its capacity of ovule production and relate it to this technic. With the objective of determining the relation among absolute fecundity, relative fecundity and the total number of oocytes obtained by stripping technic, the gonadal contents of 30 individuals, with a gonadassomatical index superior to 3 %, where studied; in other 30 individuals artificial fertilization was made using the stripping technic for the
couting of releades number of oocytes. Resultas show that the maturation of oocytes occurs in batches and relative fecundity decreases according to the increase of the female lengths in a way thatindividual with the total length between 25 and 27 cm show better stripin yield.
