M.  aRelationship of lightning parameters using data mining techniques upon Santa Catarina records.  c2009  aThis work presents the use of Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD) process upon lightning data detected by the Siddem Lightning Location System in two areas of Santa Catarina State, Brazil, from July 2006 to June 2008. The study aimed to identify relations among lightning parameters detected by the network and the seasons of the year in the selected areas regarding the active meteorological systems. The first results using clustering algorithm showed variations in lightning storms in the two studied areas for different seasons of the year, specialy under cold front systems influence. A brief comparison of the KDD process used with statistical methods is also presented.
