The experiment was developed for 144 days, using cages of 4m³, with 25 mm aluminium mesh. Three treatment were utilized: TA (330 fishes/m³); TB (440 fishes/m³) and TC (548 fishes/m³) with two replications for each treatment. The fishes were stocked initially with 16,02 ± 6,40 g e 8,82 ± 1,12 cm. The finish average weights were 271,11 ± 90,05 g (TA), 306,00 ± 93,56 g (TB) and 290,48 ± 75,73 g (TC), survival of 92,70%, 91,90% e 96,30%, apparent feeding conversion ratio of 1,86; 1,72 e 1,75 and especific growth ratio, G (%g/day), of 1,96, 2,04 and 2,01 in 144 days of culture, for TA, TB, and TC respectively. The density had no significant inluence to the of level 5% for the parametrs analised between the first and the last day of experiment. The total production was 331,84 kg in TA, 495,38 kg in TB and 613,49 kg in TC, showed increase of the total production in function of the density of stock. The production of TC was 23,80% superior the TB and 84,90% more than TA. The results obtainment indicate the good performance of the Nile tilapia raised the reservoir of the UHE of Xingó, in cages of law volume with high densities of stock. aGaiola aTilapia nilotica1 aCOSTA, F.J.C.B.1 aKRUGER, S.R.1 aALENCAR, M.A.R. de. tIn: SIMPOSIO BRASILEIRO DE AQUICULTURA, 11.
