S. aSurvey of weeds in altitude vineyards in S??o Joaquim, Santa Catarina State, Brazil.h[electronic resource] c2016 aThis study aimed to evaluate the weed community through the year in commercial vineyards located in an altitude range from 1200 to 1400 m a.s.l. in Santa Catarina State, during the season 2014/15. The vineyards were trained in VSP and managed with 3 applications of post-emergent herbicide during the growing season. The experiment had factorial design (12x3), with five replications. Treatments consisted of 12 monthly assessments in previously demarcated areas, in which were randomly selected samples of 1m2 for each repetition, using the square method inventory. The present species in the samples were monthly identified and quantified, and then the percentage of occurrence and density was calculated. Were observed 49 weed species during the year, belonging to 20 families. The main present families were: Asteraceae (12) and Poaceae (9). The main weeds were Galinsoga parviflora Cav., Lolium multiflorum Lam., Digitaria horizontalis Willd., Trifolium repens L., Stachys arvensis L., Bidens pilosa L., Eleusine indica (L.) Gaertn] and Amaranthus deflexus L. The weed community was modified, due to frost occurrence and herbicides application in the vineyards. The presence of susceptible species to frost were determined by the frost-free period, whereas cold tolerant species concentrated in low temperatures autumn and winter months. aherbicides asquare method inventory aweed community1 aBRIGHENTI, A.
