A. M. aYELLOW SIGATOKA CONTROL AND LEAF EMISSION RATE WITH ALTERNATIVE SOURCES OF FERTILIZATION ON ORGANIC FARMING OF BANANA.h[electronic resource] c2016 aBanana is the most important fruit in organic production for the State of Santa Catarina, Brazil. These organic systems are managed in semi extractive way with very few management practices in the production areas. The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of organic fertilization on the sigatoka development and leaf emergence in two year period. Treatments consisted of soil (S) and foliar applications (F): T1- Control (no application), T2- poultry manure (S), T3- rock powder (S), T4- biofertilizer ?Supermagro? (F), T5- poultry manure (S) + rock powder (S) + biofertilizer (F). The development of the plants was carried out every two weeks by foliar emission (mean and sum total leaves emitted in the period) with the help of Brun scale. Disease was quantified by the determination of gross sum on the leaves 2,3 and 4 in intervals of 15 days. Disease data was used to calculate the area under disease progress curve (AUPDC). The study design was a randomized block with three blocks and five treatments. Data were subjected to analysis of variance (5% error). In spring and summer, the poultry litter, rock powder, biofertilizer and fertilizer increased the average leaf emission by 17%; 10%; 17% and 14%, respectively, compared to the control. Disease was reduced by 28% with mixture of fertlizers, 18% with poultry manure, 13% with biofertilizer and 10% with rock powder when compared with control. Disease curves confirmed that fertilization usually reduce Yellow Sigatoka. Fertilization is an important practice to promote the growth and the disease control in organic systems.
