Natural pastures represent a valuable ecological and economic resource in southern Brazil. With the immigration of Europeans, domestic herbivores were introduced to this biome we refer to as natural pasture. The resultant alteration in structure and botanical composition was great, through the reorganization of vegetative communities. Plant attributes that provide resistance to grazing, previously of little value, became important to species survival and multiplication. Currently, natural grasslands continue to be grazed and are thus undergoing adaptation to herbivore, a relatively recent event in our grassland ecosystem. Several studies conducted in natural pastures in southern Brazil had the objective of evaluating the relationship of different levels of forage allowance to characteristics of the natural pasture and the animals. This resulted in a quadratic response of DM and animal production, in that the 12% forage allowance provided the better response. The hypothesis of this study is that better than one specific herbage allowance, a combination of different ones could be even more responsive in controlling phenology, quality and structure of the grazed herbage. |

Fertilization system, or inversion fertilization, is a new paradigm in the Integrated CropLivestock Systems (ICLS) in which the transfer of nutrients between crops is considered. The studies that demonstrated the benefits of anticipating nitrogen fertilization were carried out in conditions of clay soils and using maize as a summer crop. An alternative cereal for corn in the production chain is of great importance (i.e., water shortage and crop rotation need). The objective was to evaluate the total inversion of nitrogen fertilization in Integrated Crop-livestock Systems, applied to ryegrass crop, and the effect on sorghum production. |
