The aim of this experiment was to study different methods of control of undesirable plants in native pastures, they were associate with two levels of herbage allowance, and their effects on animal production. The treatments were no control (T), spring clipping (P), spring+autumn clipping (P+O) and spring clipping+chemical control (P+Q), under two levels of herbage allowance, medium (8 kg of dry matter/100 kg of live weight) and high (14 kg of dry matter/100 kg of live weight). The experimental design was a randomised complete block with two replicates. The statistical analysis did not detect block effects neither interaction between methods of control and herbage allowances (P>0,05). The higher herbage allowance resulted in more live weight gain per area (P<0,05). The treatments P and P+Q showed greater individual live weight gain in relation to T. The treatments of control and the levels of herbage allowance did not affect dry matter accumulation rate neither the dry matter disappearance rate (P>0,05). |
