Females and male of spiny lobster Panulirus laevicauda were placed in breeding aquarium. As the breeding group was being disturbed as little as possible, incubation period were not recorded exactly but appeared to occupy approximately 27 days. Eggs were carried under the abdomen attached to setae on the endopodites of the pleopods. Newly hatched larvae concentrated at the surface of the water. Because of the long phyllosoma period in this specie (approximately 12 months) and the difficulties experienced by those attempting to culture phyllosoma of other palinurid lobsters, no efforts was made to culture these phyllosoma. They successfully moulted and egg spawned on a diet of mollusk Mytella sp. and Tegula sp. and crustacean Clibanarius sp. During the experiment, water temperature ranged from 25 to 29°C. Culture water was exchanged at the rate
of 95 % weekly. No special techniques are required to induce mating and spawning when
environmental condition is optimal.
