The aim of this study was to develop and adapt propagation techniques as means to assure the production of high quality blueberry seedlings. The experiment was carried out using hardwood cuttings of blueberry from July to November 2012, in a randomized complete block design with four replications. The experimental unit consisted of 12 cuttings. Treatments consisted of two cultivars [Blluegem (BG) and Powderblue (PW)], two IBA concentrations (zero and 2.000 mg L -1 ), and the application of pro-rooting (PR) in the irrigation water (with PR; without PR). Cuttings were dipped in IBA solution (2.000 mg L -1 ) during 10 seconds and placed for rooting in trays containing fine grain size Vermiculita ® as substrate. Then, cuttings were kept in protected environment, under manual irrigation system. After 120 days, the cuttings were assessed for percentage of rooting, with callus formation, number of roots, number of sprouts, and length of the longest sprout. Interaction effect was not found among the treatments for any of the parameters. The percentage of cuttings with callus did not differ among treatments. In the other hand, PW had a greater percentage of rooted cuttings than BG (70.3 % and 49.0%, respectively). BG cuttings had more roots and shoots than PW, but roots and shoots of PW cuttings were longer than BG. The results show that using either IBA (2000 ppm L -1 ) or PR did not improve the propagation of BG and PW blueberries using hardwood cuttings. Concluding, PW blueberry has a better ability to be propagated through hardwood cuttings than BG.
