The sex reversal has been utilized in most culture of tilapia in Brazil to control the reproduction in the systems. With propose of improve this technique, were realized two experiments with sex reversal of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), that had objective to evaluate the dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) like solvent and potencialized agent of the synthetic hormone 17 -methyltestosterone (MT). Fifteen "hapas" (cage) were used with 0.125 m 3 , installed at 300 m 2 pond, and stocked with 3,000 fry/m 3 . The fry were fed 5 times a day with feed containing 0, 15, 30, 45 or 60 mg MT/Kg, diluted in 6 ml of DMSO + 494 ml of ethanol (92.2%), during 28 days. In the second experiment the same doses were used diluted only in ethanol. The statistical delinement was totally randomized design (n=3) and the results was analyzed by one way of variance analyses and Tukey test. To determine the sex reversal efficient, a sample of 20 fishes from each parcel was
scratched to gonadal analyze by aceto-camine colouring. The results show that 15 mg MT/ Kg diluted with DMSO was efficient in sex reversal and enable the utilization of low levels of hormone in feed that the recommended by specialized literature (30-60 mg de MT/Kg).
