In this study, using Litopenaeus vannamei, the shrimp production was monitored in a commercial marine farm located in Paranaguá, State of Paraná. The culture of L. vannamei in Paraná has been realized since 1997. Relationships among stocking, harvest, and environmental variables were evaluated during 15 growth cycles. The following average results were achieved: The PLs used (PL's20) have been cultured at density of 11,8/m 2 , for 100 days. The final body weight was 13,2 g and average survival rate of 72%. Feed conversion ratio (FCR) was 1,12:1 and final yield equal to 1,124 kg/ha. Non linear regression analyses revealed that FCR, survival, stocking density and temperature are strongly linked and are decisive for the determination of the total variation in shrimp yield. Effects of salinity were minor. The variation in shrimp yields within a farm was also related to non-environmental factors, as feed and pond management and larval quality. Climate cannot be controlled, but farm management can take its predictability into account.
